THE IRISH PIKE: CONTINUED
SEPTEMBER 2003 Another foray after the big pike!
This time he, or they won!
I hooked one to the left of this shot, fishing from the bridge.
And played him out so he was floating on the surface.
He got off before "Our kid" could set up the landing net! His fault really!!
This is me catching the bait!!!!
An all action shot of the maestro in action!!
This was lake Ballyquirke, Moycullen; just north of Galway.
About to let them all back after a good
afternoon, catching bate...that is!! Enviously watched by a couple of scroats or should that
be Croats? There were 7 or eight of them at one time, illegal immigrants probably
all fishing round my float, and sticking their fish into a bag. Slimy Bream?? Not my choice of cuisine!!
A bit of smug pose as I let them go.
At least I had some fun catching the bait!.
Ah Kid in intrepid mode.
As we arrive at another lake renowned for its big Pike (See first page).
I hooked a whopper here, but, yes it got away!!****; and Yes they are expletives!!
The moral of the story here is "if it aint broke, dont fix it! And put nice new line on your reel
which is smooth and shiny and tends to slip the knot. Especially with a 20lb+ pike on the end!"
Maybe next time!!
