VISITING COACH 1, PEUGOT
0 !! JUNE 24TH 2004 - a visiting coach takes a wide berth around
the corner of Lord Street/ Ridgeway Street junction only to discover that a
small Peugot is cutting in on the inside! Result:- Coach has a 20cm
scratch! Peugot...er..falls apart!! I am pleased to note that neither of
the ladies in the car appeared to be hurt in the incident.
TRAM HORSE RUNS RIOT ON
DOUGLAS PROM!! 22 MAY 14TH 2003 - I managed to get these shots from
one of my rare trips on the front seat of a bus on my way home. A young
tram horse under training had apparently bolted from its keepers and ran riot
along Loch Promenade, taking out two cars in the process, one being a sturdy
Land Rover which is seen leaking from its radiator. The horse is being
calmed after its ordeal and was injured in the impacts. Is it not now time
to consider the future of the Horse trams on the promenades particularly during
the TT festival and with the increased traffic congestion now being
experienced?? NB:I have recently been requested by
a member of the Horse Tram stables to point out that the horse in question was
9 years old, not under training and was quite possibly spooked! I am happy to
note this.
WAGON EXPLODES!!
22 JULY 2002 - Just popping out to move my car when I hear this
almighty bang! A wagon delivering to Bobby Saddler's at the industrial estate
behind the Traffalgar apparently went on fire and tyres and other bits exploded
causing considerable damage As far as I know as I post this only half an
hour after the event, no one was injured. Bob Hastillow, who's double glazing
business is next door managed to get some free publicity out of it on Manx
Radio!!
MOUNTAIN MAYHEM!!
I took these shots on Sat 9 Feb 02 while travelling over the
mountain. One car had rolled over the Veranda! the other a couple of miles down
the road, near the mountain mile, had lost it and had stopped miraculously
close to a gully edge The cars had obviously been there for a day at least.
I hope no one was seriously hurt in either, but I just had to capture these
shots!
GALES & HIGH TIDE -
DOUGLAS Fri 1st Feb 2002. Breaking news & photos (Well it was
when I posted it! about an hour after these shots were taken!! I had to move my
car before the tide took it away so I moved away from the harbour to take some
shots on the promenade.
