LADS NIGHT OUT! I'm not sure
exactly when or where this was taken;
early 70's, from the fancy attire!! but I recall we were on a
Douglas pub crawl, taking in the now long gone Dogs Home, now
Marks & Spencers.
Do you recognise anyone? Mostly Douglas and Union Mills bods at
the time.
Some of the culprits I recognise are:- John Leece, IOM Water
Authority, Dave Halsall , deputy Borough Engineer, and brother
Derek, Ralph Nicholson, and Dave Goldsmith and a few who's names
escape me at the moment.
Perhaps somebody will own up and give me some of the other names
as well.
BROADWAY CARWASH! Didn't you
know there was a Car Wash at the bottom of Broadway??
An exceptionally high tide and combined storm totally floods
Douglas promenade c1974.
I seem to have captured only old bangers of the time although
there were Mini's, Hilman Imps & Marina's about somewhere!!
BROADWAY CAR WASH - 27 YEAR
UPDATE! As a follow up to the above "old"
shots, I managed to get myself drenched taking these shots last year
(10.2.2001) at, coincidently, exactly the same spot, on a stormy
Saturday high tide!!
RUNNING THE GAUNTLET Through
the crashing waves at Summerland.
Again I seem to be following an old Morris.
Notice that Summerland is still a shell, before the rebuilding
after the fire.
I've rotated this pic to compensate for my bad photography!
Well I was leaning out of the window!!
DOUGLAS SUNSET Some of my
early and only attempts at serious photography.
This is a shot of Douglas harbour from the Battery Pier, looking
over a fishing boat.
Remember when we used to have a herring fleet!! Not much of a
view but the colours were fantastic.
Just a shame I didnt get the exposure quit right!
KIRK MICHAEL SUNSET One of
my better ones taken on Kirkmichael beach with a tiny Yashika half
frame camera.
Sorry about the streaks down these pics but I seem to be having
trouble with my scanner!
